Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice has revealed the controversial travel hack she and her pastor fiance Mark Lassey swear by while flying.

The 36-year-old Olympic gold medalist shared a shock clip on Instagram on Saturday revealing the cheeky trick they use to make their flight in economy seats more comfortable.

Steph revealed that they always booked the aisle and window seats in a row and hoped no one would take the middle seat between them.

‘Economics Business Class. Mark likes the window, I’m all for the aisle, so we always risk it and hope no one chooses the middle so we get extra space,” Steph told fans.

“When they do, most people are happy to stray from the center.”

Her travel hack has been used by flyers for years and is seen as unethical because it attempts to get the benefits of a flight seat without paying for it.

Additionally, people who do book the middle seat may not want to move from it for various reasons and may feel pressured to do so if they find themselves in this situation.

Steph revealed her reason for flying this festive season in the caption: ‘A few days in Brisbane with the family for Christmas. Now back to Perth.’

In October, Steph revealed she’s moving back to her home country for a life-changing reason: to get married.

The Olympic gold medalist, who has lived in Dubai for a year, confirmed her engagement to her preacher fiance in September.

She met Mark from Perth not long after moving to Dubai and he popped the question at the city’s Atlantis Royal hotel after seven months of dating.

However, Stephanie revealed that she is moving back to Australia to complete her master’s degree and marry Mark, who she has been in a long-distance relationship with until now.

Stephanie, who went public with Mark in July, took to Instagram to share the exciting news as she kept her followers updated on her big life changes.

The athlete shared a mirror selfie from an elevator as she smiled next to her packed bags as she set off on her journey back to her native Australia.

Wearing a comfortable white sweater paired with loose-fitting white pants, she looked relaxed but excited for her new journey.

Steph shared in a caption: ‘Packed my things in Dubai, put everything in storage, packed two suitcases and headed to Australia to finish my masters and get married…so wild to think about!!’

Stephanie, who recently became a Christian, expressed her gratitude for the recent changes in her life and said God has had a significant impact on her path this year.

“God has completely changed my life this year and I am the happiest I have ever been,” she added.

Last month, Stephanie confirmed the jovial news of her engagement, just weeks after first making her and Mark’s romance public in July.

She shared a series of sweet snaps of the moment pastor and Australian father-of-three Mark popped the question at the luxury Atlantis The Royal hotel in Dubai.

The couple looked overjoyed as they beamed from ear to ear and shared a kiss, with Stephanie flashing her diamond sparkler.

In a caption, Stephanie said, “Here’s to new beginnings and second chances… Yes, here’s to a life with you.”

She closed the post with a Bible verse, writing, “‘Seek your happiness in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desire.” Psalm 37:4.”

Their engagement came just weeks after Stephanie first made their romance public in an Instagram post in early July.
